Daniel spent over 18 years working in the construction, home improvement and landscaping industries but has always been interested in gardening, wildlife and conservation.
In late 1997, he started employment as a roofline installer apprentice.
By 2000, Daniel was qualified and working as a team leader, overseeing roofline installations and roofing projects for a mid-size company in the south of the UK.
In 2003, Daniel was running his own home improvement/repair business, serving local customers.
2008 brought a change of direction as Daniel switched to project managing, first for a property renovation firm and later for a mid-size housebuilder. His roles included:
- Overseeing tradespeople.
- Quality control.
- Managing multiple aspects of landscaping and building in general.
- Budget control.
By 2015, Daniel was working as a landscaping project manager for Kier Group, one of the largest construction firms in the UK.
Daniel currently works as the lead consultant here at DIY Gardening and offers in-person services to local customers and remote consultancy services UK-wide.

Daniel has always been interested in gardening and has been growing fruits and vegetables for over 8 years and ornamental plants for nearly 15 years.
Away from the garden and from publishing, Daniel enjoys photography and hiking, with Snowdonia and The Lake District being his favourite places to visit in the UK.
Daniel is also known as the Bald Scrambler and has a YouTube channel where he films himself taking on scrambling challenges in the UK.
